Richard Chavez, 1929-2011

It’s been a difficult week for us at Arango. We were saddened to hear of the passing of Richard Chavez. Cesar Chavez’s younger brother who helped found the UFW and spent his life in the service of others passed away on Wednesday following complications from a surgery.

Richard is the one who designed the now iconic UFW black eagle logo in 1962.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chavez family and all their loved ones.

Rest in Peace Maestro Magu

We are all terribly saddened by the passing of Gilbert “Magu” Lujan. He was a personal friend and mentor to me as he was to many. Thank you for the incredible contribution to the movement, the community and the art world. You will be greatly missed by so many.

Good bye Maestro. Until we meet again at the big Mental Menudo in the sky.

A benefit will be taking place at the Pomona DA Center for the Arts. Here is the information and a link:

Our new client, Chef Aaron J. Perez

Arango strives to be conscious in everything we do and are proud to work with likeminded individuals. We think that our client roster shows how dedicated we are to our principles.

Chef Aaron J. Perez has been quickly building a reputation not only for his culinary work but for his philanthropic work. He is originally from Boyle Heights and carries himself with a quite confidence that is typical of many BH natives that understand the importance of giving back to their community.

We are proud to be working with Chef Aaron and look forward to watching his continued success.

His business cards were printed on Classic Columns Duplex, Epic Black on Safari, 120 Cover with gold foil stamping.

Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation

A few months ago Arango was brought on to do some consultation work for the new computer lab at Ascension Catholic School in South Los Angeles. The lab was donated by the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation. Dalton Nuñez did the amazing preliminary rendering. We also did the plaques and wall graphics as well. Here are a few images.
