Oscar Magallanes was raised in the Azusa Barrio of Los Angeles. His work is influenced by the cultural and social elements of his upbringing. At the age of fifteen, he was expelled from high school, but was accepted into the Ryman Arts program at the Otis-Parsons College campus which encouraged him to become a professional artist. After working in graphic design and print production for 15 years he decided to dedicate his time to his art career but continues provide design and consultation services to socially conscious organizations and foundations. Recently Oscar completed his studies at the University of California Los Angeles School of Arts and Architecture. .
