Richard Chavez, 1929-2011

It’s been a difficult week for us at Arango. We were saddened to hear of the passing of Richard Chavez. Cesar Chavez’s younger brother who helped found the UFW and spent his life in the service of others passed away on Wednesday following complications from a surgery.

Richard is the one who designed the now iconic UFW black eagle logo in 1962.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chavez family and all their loved ones.

 

Rest in Peace Maestro Magu

We are all terribly saddened by the passing of Gilbert “Magu” Lujan. He was a personal friend and mentor to me as he was to many. Thank you for the incredible contribution to the movement, the community and the art world. You will be greatly missed by so many.

Good bye Maestro. Until we meet again at the big Mental Menudo in the sky.
